Submissions

Stories must be original works of short fiction between 100 and 10,000 words in length. Submissions of over 10000 words will be considered, but is the exception rather than the norm. We will except stories that have been published in other magazines, as long as there is no copyright problems. We especially are looking for serialisations of novels but we must have the whole serial before we publish anything, it is amazing how many serials die a quiet death before the grand finale.

Payment

The Steel Caves is a new E-zine and as such, for any submission received or accepted after 1.10.2000, is offering free subscription in lieu of payment. The subscription will run from the issue the story is accepted and will run for 12 months, that’s 52 issues, after the story appears. This adds up to at least US$15 worth of subscription. We are hoping within the next few months to revise this scheme. For any subsequent 2^nd stories accepted by TSC, the author will receive payment at the rate of £1 sterling per thousand words, up to a ceiling of £5 sterling. Once again, we are hoping to increase the rates as time goes by.

Copyright

The Steel Caves will have one time publishing rights and then keep the story within our archive section for 12 months. At no time will the story be reprinted or used without the authors express permission.

Snail Mail
Ms should be saved in WORD (97/2000) and only one submission per disc please. Manuscripts should be typed on one side of 8.5" x 11" paper and double spaced. Please be sure to type your name, address and phone number in the upper left hand corner of the first page.
We unfortunately cannot return manuscripts/discs unless accompanied by a Self-addressed Stamped Envelope. We’re too tight to pay for the stamp.
