Web Site Story By Robert Rankin

Happy Happy Joy Joy,

Four perfect words to describe the latest far fetched fiction book from the biro and exercise book of the master of the tall tale.

Web Site Story moves the history of Brentford, and the rest of the lesser world, from the late 20th century to the early years of the 21st (The 2020's to be precise), where the world, with the exception of Brentford, is controlled by a vast corporation called Mute Corp.

When Big Bob Charker, local tour bus driver and big geezer, crashes in his bus, only being saved by strategically placed crash mats. The doctors are amazed by his condition; he disappears from the hospital bed. Unbeknown to them Big Bob has been inflected with a computer virus, so deadly and so virulent that it will threaten the whole world by the end of the book.

Rats spread the great plague of London; a mouse, the computer mouse, will spread this one. Only two people stand in the way of the virus contaminating the whole world. Kelly, a master of dimac and absolutely gorgeous and Derek, poet, a features reporter on the local paper and bit of a nerd.

Number 22 from the master of Brentford, is slightly different in style from his last couple of books. Sure, it still has the crazy but logical plot, it has the running gags, the mad characters and the poetry, but there seems to be an undercurrent of some seriousness there, even at some times a touch of sadness.

At the end of the day though it is a very funny book, one which had me laughing out loud in places, a feat that not many authors can achieve. So a big thumbs up to Robert on this and long may he continue.
