The Death of Superman A Review |
|
The Death of Superman tells the story of Superman's demise, has been one of DC's bestsellers since it was released in Janaury 1992. It collects the Doomsday storyline that ran in the Superman comics. The Death of Superman sure surprised a lot of people, Who would have thought that the Man of Steel could even be beaten let alone die? But die he did, only to come back better. No thanks to Doomsday, a character so bestial and primal he'll make any horror monster run for his money and the cruelty he portrays is somewhat disturbing, not much is told about the origins of the beast but that just makes him all the more disturbing. Even though the story obviously was told over a run of comics, DC have made a very good effort to try and make DoS seem like a graphic novel and for the most part they succeed. There are so many moments in this book: the fall of the Justice League, the efforts made to stop Doomsday, and the death of the Man of Steel. This was a great book. Arguably Dan Jurgens best work. All in all, this
collection is a must have in the Superman mythos and those interested
in Big Blue. This reminded us why Superman is still the premier superhero
of them all. |
