What can you say about the Simpsons that has not been said a thousand times before? Not much I would guess. But for those who have been living in a cave since 1989, or those like my Grandma who refuse to watch it because it is for children! Here is the complete episode list to date, with brief summaries for every single one.

The thing that always strikes me about the Simpsons is its appeal to everyone, you have Bart, who was the original focal point of the show, he appeals to the kids, both young and old, and was a big selling point in the beginning but gave people who did not watch the show, the impression that it was a show for kids, instead of a show for all ages. Homer is the main focal point of the show now, in my opinion, he is the average Joe taken to the extreme and although we all cringe at the things he does and says, I am in no doubt that there is a little Homer in all of us.

While Homer is the wild side of 'Joe Smoe', Marge is the voice of reason, with huge blue hair and a grating voice, she is the voice of Homer's conscience and the one who keeps the whole family together. Lisa, the straight A student, is the moral rock of the family, trying to do what is right and convince the others to follow her lead, whilst Maggie, well she just falls over a lot.

The real strength of the Simpsons though are the characters of Springfield, never in Television history has a programme been filled with such a wealth of brilliant and realistic (albeit in a TV type way) cast. Every single secondary character has his own back story and unique personality, from Principle Skinner with his Nam flashbacks and confused identity, to multi millionaire and evil pinch penny Montgomery Burns.

With that in mind read on and enjoy.
